Ernesto Camacho Jr.

Ernesto Camacho Jr. is an artist who came here to Pittsburgh from The Philadelphia region. Ernesto Graduated in 1997  from Reading High School. Ernesto was accepted into the Pennsylvania Governor's School of the Arts in 1995 and 1996. He went on to further his education at Kutztown University towards his BA in Art Education. Ernesto ended up transferring to the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras towards his BA in Art Education and fine arts. Ernesto also attended LA Escuela Artes Plasticas in Old San Juan where he worked with mentally Challenged Children and shared with them his love for art. After college he was a teacher at Escuela Luis Munos Rivera as a substitute teacher. When not teaching he focused his free time creating art, Ernesto was a member of PRIDA (Puerto Rico institute for development of the arts). He then moved back to Pennsylvania in 2007. Ernesto is a Surrealist painter creating art depicting life experiences throughout his work. He is also a muralist painter with a mural in Atlantic City, He created a mural for the Reading Public Museum which is now part of their Education Collection. He also created a few murals in the Wyomissing PA area for some local restaurants and a municipal building and most recently one here in Tarentum PA. Ernesto was a member of Berks Art Alliance and Lehigh Arts Alliance. Ernesto has showcased his works at Pamil Art Gallery in San Juan (2004), Galleria Botello in Old San Juan, La Raza Showcase in 2004, Goggle Works Center for The Arts, Reading Public Museum, Art Plus Gallery, Temple Contemporary Art Gallery in Philadelphia, Gilroy Roberts Gallery at the Community College of Philadelphia, Banana Factory in Bethlehem PA., East Side Bond Solo Show in East Liberty, Persad Centers Art for Change in 2018 and 2019. Ernesto is currently the Art director/curator and Owner of The Manos Gallery in Tarentum PA.
